The Lich in Butcher Hero
The Lich is a Boss Tower Titan that never attacks you himself. He patrols the arena and raises a new skeleton every 1.4 seconds, and the skeletons do the killing, getting stronger every 5 seconds they survive. Kill them fast: each skeleton that dies has a 33% chance to Mark the Lich, and every Mark adds 1% crit chance.
The Lich at a Glance
Of all the Titans in the Butcher Hero Boss Tower, the Lich is the one who stays out of the fight. His card in the tower list reads "Don't ignore the little bones. They grow up so fast", and that is the whole fight in one line: the small bones are the threat, not the boss.

His floors are counted on their own. Because he opens after the starting Titans, his counter begins at floor 1 even if you are deep into the Slime King or Vikings floors.
How the Skeletons Work
The Lich walks around the arena and does not swing at you. Every 1.4 seconds he raises a Skeleton, which comes after you. That is about 43 skeletons per minute, so a fight that drags on fills the arena. Skeletons also evolve every 5 seconds they survive, which means an old skeleton hits much harder than a fresh one.
This changes what a good build looks like. Raw damage on the boss matters less than how quickly you remove skeletons, because each one you leave alive grows stronger. A build that clears small enemies in one or two hits, or that heals when it hits, copes well. A slow weapon that needs several swings per skeleton falls behind the summon rate.
One player describes a movement trick: run to one side of the arena to pull the dangerous skeletons after you, then go back and hit the boss. That splits the crowd from the Lich and gives you free hits on him while the oldest skeletons are away.
Using His Weakness
His weakness turns the skeleton flood into a bonus. When a skeleton dies it has a 33% chance to apply a Mark to the Lich. These Marks can exceed the normal maximum, and each Mark gives +1% crit chance. On average one Mark arrives for every 3 skeletons you kill, so the bonus builds up in a long fight against a boss who never stops summoning.
- Kill skeletons instead of running past them. Each kill is a 33% roll for a Mark, so a fast clear gives you more rolls.
- Weapons with a high attack speed get more kills per second and so more Marks.
- Crit gear pays off most here, since the Marks raise crit chance. The stats guide explains crit and how it scales.
- Items that heal on hit keep you alive while skeletons crowd you. The best builds page lists loadouts built around lifesteal.
Tips in the game say your item abilities can pair with the weaknesses of tower bosses, and that this often beats raw item level. Players report no weapon-type weakness here, so choose by ability and ignore Smashing, Cutting and Piercing. Compare your gear on the best weapons page.
The Lich Video
The video shows how to kill the Lich and his skeletons: the Lich walking the arena, the skeleton waves building up, the boss health bar and the finish of the fight.
Empowered Floors and Rewards
From floor 10 on, each 10th floor makes the Lich stronger and swaps the Legendary soul for a Divine one. His elite ability adds 1 skeleton to every summon and raises the maximum evolution level by 1, so the arena fills faster and the oldest skeletons are tougher. Expect the jump in difficulty on floor 10, where one player reports being stuck.
Equipment drops from him as from every tower boss, and one player reports Runekeeper pieces. Buying the right Soul Tree node gives you 1 more Legendary drop from the Lich. A beaten floor can be raided for a ticket, which returns the loot without a soul. Tickets refill daily, so spend them. What to buy first is listed in the Soul Tree guide.
Step by Step
- Unlock the Lich with the Lich Unlock upgrade in the Soul Tree.
- Equip fast weapons that kill skeletons in a few hits, and add crit or lifesteal gear.
- Look at the tower list for today's Weakened boss before you spend a ticket.
- Kill the oldest skeletons first. Pull dangerous ones to one side, then return to the Lich.
- Keep hitting the Lich between waves and watch the timer and his health bar.
- If skeletons overrun you, build up your stats or change gear before the next try, as the game suggests. After the first win, raid the floor each day.
Frequently Asked Questions
How do you beat the Lich in Butcher Hero?
Kill the skeletons quickly and then hit the Lich. He does not attack, but he raises a skeleton every 1.4 seconds and each skeleton evolves every 5 seconds it survives. Every skeleton you kill has a 33% chance to Mark him, and each Mark gives you 1% crit chance, so clearing the skeletons also makes your hits on the Lich stronger.
How do I unlock the Lich?
The Lich is not one of the starting Titans. The starting Titans are Slime King, Primal Lava Crab and Vikings, and the Lich joins through a Soul Tree upgrade called Lich Unlock. The tree itself stays shut until you take the giant soul from the Legendary Dragon, so the Lich is a mid-game boss.
What is the Lich weakness?
When a skeleton dies, it has a 33% chance to apply a Mark to the Lich. These Marks can go over the normal maximum, and each Mark gives +1% crit chance. On average that is about one Mark for every three skeletons you kill, so a build that kills skeletons in one or two hits gets the most from it.
What changes on an Empowered Lich floor?
On each 10th floor he gains an elite ability. For the Lich it reads: spawns 1 additional skeleton per summon. increases max skeleton evolve level by 1. That means more skeletons per summon and higher evolution, so skeletons become dangerous sooner. A player reports being stuck on floor 10 against the Lich, the Vampire King and the Demonic Berserker.
What does the Lich drop?
He drops equipment like every tower boss, and one player reports Runekeeper gear. Ordinary floors pay a Legendary soul, while floors 10, 20 and so on pay a Divine one. Another Soul Tree node gives him an extra Legendary drop, and raids replay a beaten floor for a ticket with no soul.
