Butcher Hero Characters
The Butcher is the demon you control, pulling enemies close and consuming their power for permanent growth. Around him are quest characters with missing belongings, island enemies, Boss Tower opponents and achievement avatars that add passive abilities.
The Butcher and His Weapons
The hero's chain hook pulls enemies into reach. Consuming them turns each hunt into permanent attributes, so fighting also develops the character. His chained weapons are part of that combat identity. Additional weapon slots become available as you progress, giving equipment a role alongside the stats collected from enemies.
Rage belongs to Legendary cutting weapons. Hits build Rage, and raising its level increases damage. This is a weapon mechanic to consider when choosing a build, rather than a separate character you select. The Butcher remains the hero as you change weapons, earn portraits and collect new passive bonuses.
Quest Characters and Their Requests
The Old Miner talks about a lantern, pick, cart and mask. His requests give several early enemies a purpose beyond farming. Goblins stole the pick and handed it to their orc leader. Rocks have become golems, and the largest golem holds the cart. The dialogue also points toward one-eyed dwarves and a boss carrying the lamp, then a large metal mutt with the mask.
The Cursed Girl needs help because she is turning to stone. She asks for a potion from the mine. Miss Butcher is a captive whom you are asked to rescue. These characters give you reasons to push through the map, while the item requests help identify the enemy or location that matters to the active objective.
The Blacksmith asks you to recover a stolen hammer and offers stronger armor and weapons. His request connects the story to equipment growth. Follow the quest walkthrough for the sequence of errands, rather than guessing an objective from an enemy's appearance. The dialogue names the object you need, which is more useful than a general monster label.
Enemies Across Combat Activities
Goblins and their orc leader, golems, a mushroom carrying dynamite, one-eyed dwarves and metal mutts all appear in quest descriptions. Keep those details attached to the request that names them. A mushroom with a quest item matters for a different reason than a creature you are fighting just to gain stats.
Elite units are part of the map rework, and map bosses provide gems used to unlock titans. Dragons also appear in achievement tasks. The Legendary Dragon has a special progression role: its soul opens the Soul Tree. That encounter deserves attention even if your immediate goal is collecting avatars.
Crystal golems belong to the event achievement tasks, while destroying the Crystal Guardian gives Blacksmithing. Use the event guide to understand the crystal golem activity and the Demonic Crystal guide for the related upgrade system. Skeletons and ghosts have named Boss Tower mechanics, described in the opponent table below.
Opening Island Character Video
The recording titled "Butcher Hero first island: the Butcher hooks, eats enemies and meets the first boss" follows the hero's opening encounters and shows the hook and consume loop in action. Watch how the Butcher brings a target toward him and continues through the island. This gives the character description a practical reference before the more specialized tower encounters.

The Boss Tower overview explains access and the encounter system. Each opponent below changes the fight through its own ability. Read the linked boss page for a focused plan, since the summons, Rage and explosion mechanics reward different preparations.

Questions About Character Progress
Does changing your avatar remove its passive?
An earned passive stays active when you choose another picture. Avatar Edit separates the portrait you display from the abilities you have earned. You can keep a favorite appearance and continue collecting achievements for their bonuses. Read the task for each locked avatar to choose a goal that fits your current activity.
Where do skeletons and ghosts appear?
The Boss Tower has specific encounters involving both. The Lich summons skeletons that become stronger while they survive. In the Vikings encounter, the last defeated Viking returns as a ghost. These mechanics belong to those boss fights, so use their boss pages when planning equipment rather than treating every enemy as interchangeable.
Is the Legendary Dragon important for progress?
The Legendary Dragon provides the soul that opens the Soul Tree. That makes it a progression target as well as an enemy to defeat. Dragon Hunter is a separate avatar achievement for defeating dragons within its time limit. Check the achievement window for its current target before planning a run around it.
Which quest character needs a potion?
The Cursed Girl is turning to stone and asks for a potion from the mine. Her request is different from the Old Miner equipment errands and the Blacksmith hammer request. Read the active quest dialogue when deciding where to go, since a familiar enemy can also carry an item needed by another character.
